Currency: Legal currencies since 2014 are US dollar, South African rand, Botswana pula, English pound/sterling, Euro, Australian dollar, Chinese yuan/renminbi, Indian rupee, and Japanese yen. Credit cards widely accepted in major tourist areas (there may be fees), use cash for tips.
Local custom: Locals do not tip but travelers usually do for dining and services (about 10%).

Curated tipping suggestions:
Café: Round up or up to 10%.
Game Lodge/Safari Camp: Tips are usually pooled for front/back of house staff (guides are usually separate) and given at the front desk (envelope) or in a Tip Box at the stay’s end. US$20 per night per traveler depending on the level of service received.
Hotel (general): Tips are usually pooled for front/back of house staff and given at the front desk (envelope) or in a Tip Box at the stay’s end. US$5-10 per night depending on the level of service received.
Hotel Housekeeping/Room Attendant: US$2 per night left on a pillow daily (staff changes).
Hotel Porter/Bellhop: US$2-3 per trip.
Restaurant (general): There may be a 10% service charge included in price/bill (ask), if not, 10%.
Tour – Guide or Driver: Game Guides = US$10-20 per day per person depending on the level of service received and given on the last day. Trackers = US$5 per day given on the last day or daily if they change.
