Currency: US dollar (USD, US$, $). Cash is preferred but tips can usually be added to credit card bills.
Local custom: Tipping 15-20% for personal services and served dining is customary. Some businesses may have a service charge of 15-20%, look on the menu and bill for service charge or gratuity (as a fee or included).

Curated tipping suggestions:
Airport Car Rental/Terminal Shuttle: None usually. If special attention or heavy luggage, $2-5.
Airport Car Service/Transport: 15% of the base charge.  A little extra if they had to wait or handle heavy/excessive luggage.
Airport Skycap/Porter: $2 per bag, minimum $5
All Inclusive Resorts: None usually.
Barber: 15-20% of the services. If the owner provides the services directly to you, tipping is usually appropriate.
Bartender: $1 per drink or 15% of the bill.  For several quick wine pours, 10%.
Car Rental Shuttle: None, if special attention or heavy luggage, $2-5.
Coat Check: $1-2 per item.
Coffee/Tea Shop: None for simple items, leave the change or $0.50-1 for complicated items.
Hair Salon (general): 15-20% of the services, not products.  If the owner provided the services to you, tipping is usually appropriate since they would still split the tip with anyone else that worked on you (washer, dryer) but not necessary if it is a small shop and the owner provided all of the services.
Hotel (general): Tipping is expected as services are received.
Hotel Housekeeping/Room Attendant: $1-5/day (leave daily with a note or in a marked envelope). For special requests, $2-5 is appropriate.
Hotel Porter/Bellhop: $1 per bag, minimum $5.
Hotel Room Service: Usually already included (check the bill) but a small $2-5 cash tip is appreciated.
Massage Therapist: 15-20%.
Nail Salon: 15-20%, more for heavily discounted prices and great service.
Restaurant (general): 20% for good service, 15% for average service or special requests. Some businesses may have a service charge of 15-20%, look on the menu and bill for service charge or gratuity (as a fee or included).

Valet or Parking Attendant: $2-5 each time the car is moved, or $5 only when brought around.
